I have now given up on this game. It's too frustrating. Maybe there is some basic element of the game that I'm missing for some reason, but C&C games have always been particularly hard for me. I got as far as Sarejevo on the GDI campaign, and it's just too hard. It seems strangely to be even harder when I switch it to 'easy'.
After more than a dozen attempts, none of which were even close to being even remotely successful at doing anything, I'm giving the whole game a flush.
Its difficulty, coupled with the constant feeling of not being zoomed out enough to really be able to see and control the battlefield properly makes me feel like this game is not for me.
Just got through Sarajevo myself, and I'm really enjoying it. It's certainly a different flavour from Starcraft or Supreme Commander, but I'm having a lot of fun now that I've had a bit of time to diddle around with it properly.
Sarajevo requires a LOT of mammoth tank spam, supported by upgraded pitbulls.
I can't even get to the point of building mammoth tanks... Their sappers keep taking out all my defenses, then they either take out my base, or my harvesters, whichever are least well defended... then that's the end of me. I can't recover.
Man you need to know one thing. Sappers are infantry. Infantry kill infantry. Tanks kill tanks. That's the theme for ALL of the C&C games. I put my machinegunners into sandbag bunkers, and sappers fall the wayside. Also a few APC's with grenadiers is a mobstopper. The first thing I did was spread out some of the machine gun towers, then I started making APC's with grenadiers in them, then upgraded to zone troopers when I could afford it. As soon as I get it reinstalled, I'll get up there and make a demo for you guys. Maybe learn something, or point out how bad I suck.

I don't think I did anything BUT Mammoth tank spam. My campaign missions went something like this....
Start
Build Defense till nothing gets through
Build Mammoth tanks
Commence Spamming
Throw in some bombers and I'm all set. Beat the game awhile ago.
Croatia was another unfathomably difficult mission. I had to play that one 9 or 10 times, varying my build order and strike patterns until I got lucky.
I don't want to play the Nod. I wasnt to0 go straight to the Scrin...
Althought it's not as bad as when games force you to play the single-player mode in order to unlock stuff for the multiplayer mode. That does more than just twist my wiskers, it actually makes me angry with the developers.

I beat it handily. I guess I was over-thinking the strategy of the mission.
How new is new? What does it change?
The nod and scrin missions are much harder than GDI. GDI was a cakewalk IMO.
I don't really like the NOD, so the only reason I would want to play through their missions is if I get to play as the Scrin afterward.
Yeah, you need to run through the GDI and NOD missions to open up the Scrin.
This is not the worst example, but it still twists my wiskers.
