Management console fails-needs IE5 or later???

edited April 2007 in Science & Tech
I have not been able to get into system devices in quite some time now. Every time I go into control panel and try to get into system devices I get an error message stating that MMC Microsoft managment console needs IE5.1 or later when in fact I have IE6...same problem MARIO was having..did not see a solution posted.

When I try to run "devmgmt.msc" from the run command I
get mmc error "mmc requires internet explorer 5.5 or
greater to be installed" and when I press ok it
disappears. Basically I cannot access Device manager to
check the hardware or to access to registry..
ran: sfc /scannow no errors detected

Without knowing specifically to address that problem, I can only recommend a Windows "repair" installation. But maybe someone else knows an easier solution.

Download and install the ie60.exe IE6 redistributable package from here.
