Vonage is AFU. Need help.

edited April 2007 in Science & Tech
We all know that verizon filed a patent lawsuit against vonage. And the thing is, I'm using vonage. I'm really worried that they might close down because of the lawsuit. And I've paid a whole year for their service!

So my question is, to what VoIP service provider should I switch to? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One of my Masters professors told me that the technology that Vonage uses is very similar to what many other VoIP's companies are using. Verizon patented the concept and technology but never took it to market. Vonage just took it to the next level. Verizon is getting paid for not following through on the idea.

Verizon now getting $$$ for doing nothing and Vonage has a good thing going. Look at the difference between Cable companies version of VoIP. Similarly priced to POTS (Plan old telephone systems) and tied in with the cable. If you have DSL, no luck with going with cable VoIP.

I have Vonage and I see a merger before I see Vonage going under.

I have Vonage too. I'm not worried about it. They're not going to leave their customers high & dry just like that. I agree with Q. The worst that will happen to them is a merger.
