Router, xbox live, 2 accounts on internet, droping alot

I am trying to figure out why me and my freind keep geting kicked offline.
The internet seems to just freeze up? After we play a few games. I was thinking it might be because I havent set my router up right? Maybe I have to assign the right ip's? Or? What do you think the problem could be?
My internet is 6mbs all the time.. I dont think thats why?

    You stated the Internet freezes up? More details of the exact symptoms would be helpful. Does the 'freeze' problem only happen after gaming? If that's the case, then it would appear to me that your video card is overheating.
