Opinions regarding Zalman ZM-80C-HP
Uh oh I just read a post in a danish newsgroup.
A dude fried his GF4 TI4200 after fitting this cooler.
Was he a moron, or will my beloved Radeon 9700 suffer the same fate?
I don't really think he was a moron.
I will make my final conclusion after hearing your opinions.
He didn't even have artifacts. At least that is what he is saying.

I've never heard of anyone having difficulties installing the ZM-80C-HP on a 9700, as it utilizes the standard mounting holes that all other latest generation video cards do. If you have a 9700 AIW or 9800 AIW, be careful as there are components that stick up too high and interfere with the installation. As well, the ZM-80C-HP can't be used in SFF systems as it is too wide and interferes with the proper latching of the case lid.
Picture below is a Radeon 9700 Pro with the Zalman cooler installed (with optional fan).
The shop where I am going to buy the thing, does not carry the optional fan.
Oh well then I will have to order it online.

Guess I will have to buy it online.
I want the fan.
I wouldn't dare using the card without it.
I threw in a couple of 5.25"->3.5" mounting brackets. (not sure this is the right term?)
Combined total (shipping included) $62 or €50.
That isn't too bad.
