137+ gig hard drives need a controller?

First Id like to say its good to be back. Im glad the icrontic domain didnt turn to some porn site. Im glad they kept it for the most part the same.....

ok, here is my issue.Ive neevr had to deal with this before since all I had were a few 30 gigs and 60 gig hard drives in my case. But I heard that ANY MOTHERBOARD needs a controller card for hard drives ovr 137 gigs. Is this true?

    look at page 25 of this (pdf file page 27)

    basically, if your mobo has ATA 133, then ure fine and it will see drives larger than 137 gigs...
    if you have ata 100 and below.. you will need the ata 133 pci adapter...

    that is what i soaked from the other thread...

    I think the ATA133 spec can handle disks up to 2TB in size, I could be wrong though (it does have 48bit addressing)
