What I ended up with..

So anyhow here is what i ended up going with:

P4 3.06ghz CPU 800mhz
1 gig samsung 800mhz ram
160gb SATA drive
GeForce 4 ti 4600 /w 128
sb audigy 2.0
Intel motherboard (the one hardOCP recommends)

My old system is:

1400Mhz Thunderbird
512meg ram
Geforce4mx
200gb ide drive
sb audigy
pci nic


before you flame me please know that i saved 300 dollars simply because i bought this pc from our sister company :P and our sister company only does Intel.

will my 3dmark 2003 score be good now? lol, on my above system i got like a 1302

    the p4 wont be a 3.06 but a 3.00 as 800fsb

    Did you grab the Intel i875P (no OC options) motherboard or the Abit IC7-G i875P mobo?

    Meh, the Abit (IC7 MAX2) I have at home has some issues. The board has memory timing issues, it locks up while installing windows at default speeds half of the time.

    Did you try it with either relaxed timings or with one stick of memory?

    Yeah, its got a 2.8c, 4 sticks of Corsair XMS3200 cas2, 2 Maxtor 160gb SATA drives, etc. I didn't get a lot of time to mess with it, im going on what the dad has said over the phone. I get home on monday.

    Nice rig! I don't think much of anything will chug on that machine either. My one suggestion only since you mentioned 3D 2003 scores would be to sell the 4600 and get a DX9 vid card. Other than that, full speed ahead!!!
