Who will win the DVD format battle?

edited June 2003 in Hardware
So what do you guys think? Who will win the battle of the DVD formats, whose going to be basking in your money when we are buying up their format?

Just FYI:
DVD+RW is supported by Phillips Elec., Hewlett-Packard, Sony, Dell, Ricoh.

DVD-RW is supported by Pioneer, Hitachi, Toshiba, and Panasonic.

DVD-RAM...well I'm not really sure...

Microsoft's Longhorn will be supporting ALL the writable DVD formats.

Is there actually any difference between them? But I would say - because of the companies involved in that one.

DVD RAM is practicaly dead allready.

The drives that support both formats are getting pretty popular now. I use - personally.

Dual Format Drives will dominate. Then the two standards will effectively blend together.

More than likely DVD+RW will be used for consumer use and DVD-RW will be used in Commercial use due to the fact that the DVD industry uses it to write movies. However, DVD multi drives might be dominate too.

Aren't they saying blue ray technology will kill them all?

I think blue ray is the next generation of DVDs. I dont think current set top DVD players can play them, so it will be a while before we see that come through.
