Hi, i'm looking for a replacement vid card for my ATI 9000Pro.
I was leaning towards the GFX5600's as i can get them from between $270 and $320 AU.

My main picks are:

Abit Siluro 5600 DT 256mb - $280
X-Micro FX5600 256-TV - $280
X-Micro FX5600 128-TV - $270
X-Micro FX5600 256-GOLD-TV - $320

Or if i went ATI:

Gigacube ATI 9600 Pro Lite - 256mb - $296
PowerColor 128MB DDR ATI Radeon 9600 Pro - $299

What are ppl's Thoughts on this as i would like to keep to around these prices $280-$320..

BTW, i don't do a lot of gaming but prob won't buy a vid card for at least 1yr so i want to be able to play d3 and h-l2 when they come out. And i prefer Quality over speed.

Thanks.

    Get the ATI.

If your budget can stretch a bit, get a 9700 pro.

The ATI will yeild better quality and better performance than the 5600.

256mb frame buffer cards are a gimmick. It doesnt improbe performance. Nothing utilizes the extra memory.

The fx5600 is a piece of crap, but if you like crap save yourself a good $50 US and buy a ti4200. The fx5600 performs at the same speed of a ti4200. Read this review for more information : http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1797

If you're looking for a budget video card then either get a ti4800se or a Radeon 9500 Pro. I really feel sorry for people who dont live in the us. Newegg is god.

If possible you should try to get your hands on a Radeon 9500 Pro, as they are actually better than the 9600 Pro. They are also being pulled from the market though, so one maybe hard to find. I agree with the others, go ATI. Any FX below 5800 isn't worth its weight in dog crap since they can be outperformed by last generation (GeForce 4) cards.

Actually the only good fx card is the fx5900. Vacuums go in closets not agp slots :X

These prices i quoted earlier are my dealer prices, and over here we don't have the 9500 Pro or the FX5900 Ultra (as of yet)..
The retail for these cards is about $100-$150 AU more than my cost price.

Your guess is as good as mine. I've heard bad things about powercolor and ive never even heard about gigacube.
