Video Card Fan Question.

edited July 2003 in Hardware
I have a chainteck ti-4600, and the chinsy little fan on it is starting to crap out, making all kinds of weird noises. Can you take off the fan without putting the card at risk? I remember reading once that the fans don't move that much air, only 10cpm or so. Thanks.

uh... not if you want to have a functional ti4600.

Your best bet would be either a Zalman ZM80A-HP with a Zalman fan bracket & 92mm fan, or a Thermaltake GeForce4 cooler; Alternatively, if voiding the warranty isn't an issue, get a 1u copper rackmount heatsink and glue/clip that on somehow. I did this with my Radeon 8500 and it OC's from 275 to 320 with the stock fan, 326 with a 60mm delta...
