Fan went dead on my GeForce...

edited July 2003 in Hardware
What is the best fan that I can get for a Visiontek GeForce 3 Ti500?

The fan broke on mine... just stopped working for some reason.

Also, is there any way that I can check the temperature on the GeForce?

Depends on the manufacturer as to wether it has temerature sensors. Who is it made by?

Figure out how big (or small) your old fan is and buy one that size.

Thermaltake's Blue or Crystal orbs will work great on your card. If you overclock your core tho, I would go for the crystal orb.

My Ti500 came with a blue orb on it, I replaced it with a crystal orb.

Another option is to glue a 1u rackmount hsf on it; I did it on my R8500 and it now does 320MHz (core) with the stock low profile fan; the stock is 275...

Well do you know of any Utilities that have it on them as a temperature sensor?

Your graphics card has to support hardware monitoring; if it didn't come wiith hardware monitoring software, it likely doesn't support it. The only cards that I'm aware of that do/did support hardware monitoring are Tyan's ATi R9700 and below cards, and some of MSI's cards.

Some Asus cards do too, like my V8200 Deluxe (GF3)

Worst case you could get a probe and hook it into one of the mobo sensor inputs.
