Most boards will let you run just one. MP boards tend to be pretty expensive. You may wanna check out e-bay.

You're not going to find a decent MP board on ebay for <$100 (I've looked). Check Newegg's refurbished server board section regularly (like @ least 2x daily... preferably more... I have their refurbished video card section as my homepage; also, make sure you go through to the summary view or detailed view of the boards they have in stock... that page gets updated before the manufacturer listing does, usually)
My first recommendation would be MSI's K7D Master-L, followed by the K7D Master (no onboard LAN). The rest of the boards Newegg has are decent, but not great, unless you're not planning on overclocking.

Disvengeance, if you're going to buy a dual Athlon system and mod the CPUs, I'd just go with a stock 133MHz FSB CPU, either a 2400 or a 2600... Unless you want to get a K7D-L and hope it reaches 150MHz and that your CPUs are unlocked. My dual 2500+ system is running @ 12.5x150, so a bit over the rated 1.83GHz, but that's the highest the board will do (and just about the higest any 760MPX board is able to do). If you want to go any faster than 12.5x150, you'll need to hard-code the CPU multiplier.
I might get one, cause my parents want a new computer...:D

right now, newegg refurbished... tyan dual mp board, $214. This is my favoritest dual amd board ever. I love the board. Why? Because it's E-ATX. Yeah, that's basically my only reason. I actually like the version with onboard SCSI better, but you know...
It's a ultra high end workstation/server board, angled DIMMs for rackmounting and everything. I'm staying away from newegg (which is difficult because my home page is their refurbished video card section...) because if i see it one more time, I'm gonna loose it and order one.

Yeah, the one thing I don't like about it is that although I've never had a chance to play with one, I'm positive it has NO overclocking features what-so-ever. Tyan boards (esp. the dual cpu ones) very rarely do.
Comments
Just connect it with an electrically conductive material (Trace pen or rear window defroster repair kit).
You don't even need to fill the pit.

I suggest the MSI K7D Master for your dual board.
