9800np + MW4 mercenaries only good at low res

First chance to play with 9800np and already I am confused over the results with MW4 mercenaries.
I don't see how 1280x1024 with AA switched off is worse than 1024x768 with 4xAA enabled but it definately is much worse. Autoconfig executable left at recommended ultra high setting throughout all resolution changes.
Rotated torso at 90 deg and walk at 10% throttle in circle around your lancemates whilst keeping a close eye on the lancemates in relation to the distant background or edge of the screen image and you can easily see the drop off in smoothness.
MW4 seemingly doesn't like the higher resolutions with everything set to ultra high regardless of AA settings.
Oddly fraps tends to repport either 120 fps mechs off screen or 60 fps with mechs on screen but nothing much inbetween and somtimes drops to 40 fps. So now I am wonder why these two frame rates dominate? At higher resolution fraps reports the same 120/60 frame rates as lower resolutions yet at the higher resolutions I don't get what looks like 10 fps.
Thankfully it's rock solid & smooth at 1024x768 4AA and there are absolutely no visible jaggies scrolling back and forth on the horizon. Great stuff but I was expecting 1600x1200 to be equally solid with the AA turned off and it's not.

We recomend the new v3.6' set including the controle panel along with the Rage3d Tweaker.
If you are still having problems with these drivers, I have no ideo as to what the problem might be.
The 9800np should run the same resolution as the pro version. Just not as fast.
Catalyst 3.6
Rage3D Tweaker 3.9
NF7-S v2
2500+ Barton @ 200x10.5 1.65vcore 55 degC
9800np @ 333 vpu 299 mem (?? degC)
2x512 TwinMos 3200
16111 3DMark 2001SE
Will patch the game tonight.

1) The anti-aliasing on/off in the MW4 Mercs Autoconfigure DOES NOTHING and AA is always OFF.
2) Forcing AA in the ati diver or rage3d tweak to 2x or 4x intoduces vertical and horizontal lines across the game menu screens and furthermore introduces a combination of dots and dashes in the mission briefing text and other text. Remains usable and readable but it's clearly not right.
3) Forcing anisotropic filtering makes the mission briefing and other text unreadable with a faded and out of focus appearence.
4) Anything above 1024x768 does not function smoothly whatever settings you choose.
5) Patching the game does nothing to remedy the situation.
6) Uninstalling and reinstalling the game does nothing to remedy the situation.
7) Undoing all overclocking back to defaults does nothing to remedy the situation.
CONCLUSION
There is nothing I can do other than hope that either MS or ATI address the problems. Perhaps my favorite game is not mainstream enough to recieve the loving care and attention needed to get things fixed.
Lets see if the original MW4 and Black knight expansions exibit the same behaviour.
