Short story: Dell laptop's (about 3-4 years old) mobo (or something) is dead, warranty is over, data needs to be recovered. Any way to hook it up to a desktop system, and if so, how? I have no access to another laptop. Thanx.

You could also connect it to another PC via a crossover cable (RJ45) and use a Norton Ghost bootdisk.

Get a 2.5" to 3.5" hard drive converter board; Fry's has them (if you live in CA, NV, TX, AZ... I think Oregon and/or Washington has them now too...)
If not, search on pricewatch or google or something.
