My system started ramdomly restarting lately.
I thought it may be the power supply going out but then i read somewhere that xp had a feature that did that.
Well i unchecked that and now i get this system error box that pops up randomly now. I know how to make the box stop i think but how do i figure out what the prob is?
Gonna run sandra now and will report my findings
TIA

running virus now and will report back...
how do i do a screen shot?
oops found it....
Here you go...
Right click on my computer, select manage from the list that appears, when the window pops up go into system tools/event viewer and have a look in both system and application to see what it says in there.
Will do the event viewer thing when it happens again.
Hmmm, could've been some sort of glitch. You install any new hardware?
A) the program you're using to rip
or
B)DVD is conflicting with something else.
As long as it isn't comming up now doesn't mean it won't.
I'd do what RMF suggested and take a look see just to be on the safe side
Nope, you can check it now. I'm sure it creates a log of the error.
What do you think?
Um..where's the shot?
Pic didnt post....try again
Trying again!
AHHH....JPEG...oops...
HERE
Go back and replace the check in the feature. Also what psu do you have? As a matter of fact lemme get your specs:
Mobo
Cpu
Psu
ram
etc
Hmmm
I know there is an easy way to do that w/ xp, let me see if i can figure how to put my specs in ....
I cant remember all that i have in this thing now...

How much ram is in the machine?
Hmmm, only thing i need to know is what brand/size is the psu and I bet you have stock cooling on that T-Bird? Most likely the reboot issue is caused by overheating. T-Birds tend to run hot, so most likely you're not getting adequate cooling into the case and the heatsink you have isn't enough. This can also be caused by a dirty fan/heatsink and again not enough cool air getting to the cpu.
oh, am i right about what you have in your machine?
Whats psu?
I will post my temps after i restart.
CPU temps 53.0C / 127.4F
Board temps 25.0C / 77.0F
Power/ Aux temp 3.0C / 37.4
So what do you think?
You're not oc'ed so that isn't an issue. @ CPU temps 53.0C / 127.4F i'd say the cpu is heating up just a bit and isn't liking the so-so high temp. I can bet you have that thermal gum which comes with a stock cooler and it isn't doing the job. Looks like it's time for some maintenance.
You're gonna have to remove the heatsink and the cpu, clean that gum off of it, apply some thermal grease and put it back together. Also while you're at it clean off the fans ( all the ones you have) and this will ensure some good airflow.
