Has anyone tried Ad-hack AIM? It doesnt allow wildtangent to be installed. Its nice and gets rid of ads.... Real nice thing i think, unless im missing some of its huge flaws.
I'm new to the forum..........just joined today. I can't get rid of the error message about Wild Tangent module unable to be located when I reboot my pc. I've been reading the threads on this and I can't find the registry key or the location to input the "wtcpl.cpl" that stonedagain refers to. Can anybody help.
I just found this forum. I ran Ad-aware and deleted a few files with "wild tangent" in thjem, and then I've been getting that notice at start up, and had no idea what wild tangent was. So this morning I googled it, found this forum, and finally got rid of it completely. So, thanks for your tips and instructions! I took AIM off my hard drive, and will do my best to keep it off.
By the way, does ICQ install any weird files the way AIM does?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I have been trying for weeks to get rid of this - did not even know where it came from till now

Thank you, thank you, thank you. The instructions for editing the registry worked perfectly. Finally got rid of that stubborn error message. Got rid of wild tangent and AIM too. Just not worth the trouble. I'm just staying away from anything connected to AOL. Thank you, again.
ok, i tried all this, but did not find the "RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program\Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain" thing in the regedit. is it in the same place the WildTangent CDA is?
did u manage to locate the rundll32.exe file i have the same problem
had this same problem.the rundll32.exe is part of the wild tangent cda engine.it is all listed under the
hkey local machine/software/microsoft/windows/current version/run
it will have an
ab banner - wild tangent -
click on the wild tangent and delete it then close out of the regedit and reboot, that should get rid of the problem.
I had the same error. After searching awhile, i found the fix. The credit goes to Mr. August 25, 2004 in the Compu-Kiss Forum. Here it is:
Go to START > Settings > Control Panel
Double click Add/Remove Programs, Select WildTangent ,
Click uninstall or add/remove, follow the on screen instructions.
Open the registry editor (Click Start > Run, type regedit). Locate the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
In the right pane, find and delete the following entries ( if they exists):
Follow his steps - now here's the catch i found
Make sure to exit directly out of the registry editor once you delete the file. Don't browse to other folders or it will stay there. Reboot and the computer will save the current settings. Next run, it should be clear. Hope this helps.

Now that I have finally successfully removed Wild Tangent, can anyone tell me how to get rid of My Daily Horoscope. When I click on remove program in the control panel nothing happens. Thanks for any help with this.

I'm new here so apologies if this comes out in an not netiquette format! Just wanted to say thanks for this posting. Been struggling with Wild Tangent removal for some time, and this was the business!
I'm now tackling my CPU usage time running at 100% if I even so much as look at the mouse button. Would this forum be the right place to post a "Hijack This" result to seek some assistance? I'm rapidly running out of ideas and would really appreciate any help.
i first deleted the folder of wild tangent in my c: drive
then removed the program
i started to get the error message when i log on.
i couldnt find it on the search
so i dissabled the program with msconfig..it worked fine, but the bigger problem was that i couldnt use th einternet :|
I had been reading through all the solutions to this problem - they were sounding much more complicated that what I wanted to do - so when I came to your solution, I tried it as it sounded the easiest - and it worked! Thank you so much (I registered at this site just so I could thank you)
Try xoftspy at www.paretologic.com/xoftspy. This program detected and removed
over 8400 files of Wild Tangent in my XP Pro computer. You can run the program for
free, however in order to remove the Wild Tangent files and folders you have to buy
xoftspy for about 40.00 dollars. My Spybot S&D overlooked Wild Tangent and two
other Trojans-Dload.A threats.
This is for info only in case anyone wants to try it. It worked fine for me.

Yes, despite it feeling strange to download Wild Tangent and installing the program you DON'T want, it does activate the Remove/Uninstall feature in the Control Panel. So thanks for that advice.
HOWEVER, it still leaves in the Registry a Data Miner that will report internet activity. So another piece of software recommended (XoftSpy) does find that and will eliminate it -- for the $40 dollars mentioned.
So then I have a question: can I just do a Search (Find) through the Registry to locate all entries for Wild Tangent and delete those to get rid of the Data Miner entries?
Thanks to anyone who knows Registry editing well enough to advise on this.
Found your thread today and was able to succesfully remove that Wild Tangent evilness! It was really driving me insane! Thank you to the people here for helping me and others to remove it!

This was exactly what I was searching to find - you really helped an annoid computer user! Thanks!
Yeah they are great programs, but do not actually remove the entire program, and I don't really know if they remove parts of it either. Anyway, there is no uninstaller for the program, it is not listed in the add/remove programs, and still is sitting in the control panel with the "WildTangent Control Panel" as its name. This helps the program in no way whatsoever, and yet it still annoys me for being there, and more of the fact that it is glued into the hard drive somewhere.
Has anyone actually used AIM 5.5? If you have, are you disappointed?
I just used spybot search and destroy, and it removed it, but when i went to control pannel add and remove, it is there. When I start my computer up, it tells me the Dll is missing for Wild Tangent. When it comes to computers, I know how to search, and play, all the general stuff, but I am confused and afraid to do anything else.

I followed your suggestion and visited the web site. I downloaded the driver, then went to add/remove and removed it from my orogram files. The error message disappeared. I also searched for wcmdmgr and deleted all files that appeared.
Thank you Hawk, but I followed the WTRemover.exe instructions and when I clicked on the icon as instructed was told it was not a valid windows 32 application. I have followed a number of the other suggestions on this thread and caution folks to do a search of your C: drive for "wild tangent" as I thought I was rid of it and files remain.
gilbert, What OS are you using-- Win 98, XP home,XP pro? I'm using XP pro and I DLed it to desktop--clicked it and it said all WT was removed. Try Dling it again to your desktop and click on it. If it says the same thing, there's got to be some security setting on your pc that's stopping it from running. Anyone else here have any input on this?

WTRemover.exe
I really appreciate the reference to WTRemover. It's the easiest fix I've come across. Thank you! JM / ka5ljb
