"Default NTP server"

My DLink D1-614+ 4 port router/802.11b AP has a "Default NTP server" field in the time tab of it's control panel. I assume this field is there so you can have the router auto-update it's time settings, so you don't have to check it or anything. What address can I give it? Or, if I'm mistaken, WTF is a "NTP server"?

NTP is network time protocol. It was the successor to ICMP's time-synch message type.

Here's a listing of public NTP servers.
