what oc software can/should I use to oc my new radeon 9800 pro 128? what do you recommend?

I installed powerstrip day before yesterday and yesterday I got the box telling me that the trial period was already over ...I didn't really even get a chance to use it.

So ...any help will be appreciated.

if u just need something to change the gpu/mem freq download Radclocker. It integrates right into the display properties advanced screen.

    Rage 3D does that also!

I like Rage3D. Hell, I have Rage3D installed on my laptop.

BTW, for anyone with a laptop with ATi graphics:
Going from your OEM drivers to the Catalysts using mobilemod should yield a good increase in performance- my 3dmark score (R7500m 64MB) went from ~3500 with the OEM drivers to ~5300 with the Catalyst 3.5s, which is the last driver I benchmarked it with.

OK ...installed Rage3dTweak and it installed well and even overclocks well ...one problem:

I set my settings and apply and pick yes ...but each time I reboot I need to do it all over again. I checked the help file but all it says is don't enter a game profile and I didn't and it still doesn't hold the settings after a reboot.

    Any suggestions?

Geez, can't believe no one answered this.

Anyways, be sure that you have Rage3DTweak on the startup list for windows otherwise it won't save the overclock.

    Sorry for the late reply,
    Al

on the startup list? like just place a shortcut to rage3dtweak in the startup menu?
Why don't they mention that in the docs? lol Why didn't I think of that?
    Anyway ...thanks Al

Rage3d was junk for my card. The limit was like 450 on the core for it. How do you change that?

I think they just need to update it. The newest version of R3DTweak goes up to 510.

I am oc'ing teh 9800pro 128 ...I have it at 393/366@1.6v no artifacts on as2 + stock orb cooler. I hope to get some improvements by wednesday or thursday when my salman comes in.

what I like most about radclocker is that I can install just that tab if I want to ...rage3dtweak has a little overhead but I'll probably give it another shot next week so I've heard a few speak so highly.

Weird, i just downloaded the app a few days ago from them.

I gotta recheck that. 510 would be better but not enough after the voltmod. Thanks!

    Csimon,

You can up the corespeed to at least 440-450 without problems. I have a non-pro and mine did 450 without artifacts at stock cooler and goop (untouched) but i'd like to have the memory you have though. You have Samsung on that card.

    i use radclocker
    http://users.adelphia.net/~webspace/RadClocker1800d.zip

the max on the core is like 1700 something.
u can change the increment so the max changes according on the increment u selected.

The radclocker is included in the Omega's which is good, but Rage's tweak has a lot more you can change. I couldn't even get Powerstrip to work properly either for some reason.
