Silicon Integrated Systems, the world’s third largest chipset developer, today disclosed some details about its next-generation SiS755FX core-logic and consequently leaked some facts about AMD’s future Athlon 64 FX processors in Socket 939.
Today the company officially confirmed SiS’ intentions to pump up the frequency of HyperTransport bus used as FSB for AMD’s eighth generation of microprocessors to 1000MHz.

Sounds like a sweet chipset. I wonder if it will perform better than past SIS chipsets?

I didn't like the fact that it was SiS neither.
But other chipset makers might also launch similar products.
An nForce4 motherboard at 1000+ FSB will be sweeet.

As I recall this is what Cray is doing with their super computer using A64. There will be no FSB, the interconnects will be at hypertransport speeds which will be either 1/2 of cpu or sync.
That is why they are building their own interface.

1000 REAL fsb is impossible. 250 fsb quadbumped is another story.

Well its not a REAL FSB either. Its a HT link running at 800MHz now. Up that to 1000MHz giving you the 25% more bandwidth as said in the article.

mmonnin hit the nail on the head. :)
I hate deceptive advertising. How pathetic.
Besides, the spec is 1600MHz so SiS is still going to be 600MHz below spec.

Oh, it's no more deceptive than Intel's claims. Exhibit 1 below: System 1 at 1006 FSB - oops, err, uh.... I mean 250FSB DDR Hyperthreaded, quad-pumped ........OH , WHATEVER!:D

If Intel wishes to bamboozle the masses (and the non-technical business admin-types who approve automation purchases), then why not AMD also?

    At least it sounds impressive.
Let's wait and see how it performs.

Remember the HT link is not to its full potential yet either. Manufactures dont use a 16-bit path which is what HT can support.
