I think the 1900 will suffice until you can afford a decent upgrade... ;)

Yeah, it should last me a good long while considering the ''heavy hitters'' in the graphics department don't come out entill 2004 and the best graphical looking game i'm currently running is Jedi Knight 3! But I am planning on purchasing Halo and Call of Cuty soon... will my rig be able to handle those two game at full graphics?

    Yes. ;)

A friend of mine can run Halo at near-full with only a 1.7 P4 and a Ti4200... you'll be golden.

Often, you're better off finding a monitor you like the picture on (seeing it beforehand) and buying it locally. Pricewise, shipping is usually pretty high... I don't know about that one, because I can't see your link.

Yeah. The ViewSonics I've seen looked pretty good... this seems to be a good quality monitor.

Yeah, i've got a good amount of time to find a monitor I really like considering I only have like 39 dollars left over from this whole ordeal...

    In general:
Aperture grille screens are better for games, images, etc.
Shadowmask screens are slightly better for text, but at the expense of a significant loss of quality in images/games.

People complain about the two wires used to hold the aperture grille in place, but since I own an aperture grille monitor, I can tell you definitively that they are barely noticeable at first, and you get used to them very quickly.

Look for a flat screen CRT.

    Detailed Minimum Specifications:
    For a 17" Monitor:
    Default (recommended) resolution: 1024x768 or > @ 85Hz or >

0.27mm or < grille pitch (aperture grille)
0.24mm or < dot pitch (shadow mask)

    For a 19" Monitor:
    Default (recommended) resolution: 1280x1024 or > @ 85Hz or >
    Maximum resolution: 1600x1200 or > @ 75Hz or >
0.25mm or < grille pitch (aperture grille)
0.22mm or < dot pitch (shadow mask)

    For a 21"/22" Monitor:

    Maximum resolution: 1920x1200 or 1900x1440 or > @ 75Hz or >
0.25mm or < grille pitch (aperture grille)

Took me two months to actually find the damn damper wires for my aperture grille monitor.

    How about this one? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=626936&Sku=V18-1720

Bare in mind buying all this new stuff for my computer burned a major whole in my wallet so please, be gentle on the price of the monitor...

Oh yeah, NO FLAT-PANEL DISPLAYS! Not only do those suckers cost above and beyond anything I can afford but they also, for the most part, don't look that great.

I didn't see anyone mention flat panels. I said flat screen CRT. There's a major, major, MAJOR difference.

A flat screen CRT is a CRT monitor with a flat screen.
Flat panel monitors have LCD displays.

    I like my Viewsonix P225fb (http://www.viewsonic.com/products/crt_p225fb.htm)
A lot of people say running your screen at high resolutions causes blindness, but I think a lot of people are just lazy and bitch when they can't see the monitor from 5 miles away. I happen to like 2048x1536 resolution.

Sorry, I should have been more clear... that message wasn't intended for you or anyone for that matter. I was just stating for future reference.:)
