Do you have the hard drive on an ATA or S-ATA port?

Not 10 min ago I figured out what the problem was. :) I needed to make a boot disk using my motherboards drivers. This allowed me to install them. Had I continued to try to install XP I would not have been able to do so because I dont have an A: drive. But Vista lets me use a CD rom as a boot source. So long story short all is well.

Thank you for at least responding though!!! It took me over 10 hours across 4 days to figure out the problem.

All of us do-it-yourself computer types have experienced that! Still doesn't make it any fun, though.

    Glad you got it sorted.
