Is Newbie's Monitor Dead Please?

edited June 2007 in Hardware
Hi All,

I’m a Newbie on this Forum so I hope you will excuse me if I seem ignorant of some basics.
<O:p
I’ve got a monitor issue.
It’s a Dell P992, 19 (17.7 visible) inch CRT Trinitron (Sony?)
<O:p
Raising Contrast or Brightness causes divergence-blurring especially at the corners.
The brightness seems too high. (At zero the screen is still well illuminated).
Fly-back lines are visible until the monitor is well warmed up.
In order to have a sharp resolution I have to have a really dull, insipid picture.
It seems Sony technology monitors are prone to similar problems??
<O:p
Is this CRT dead? Or could SonyDAS help?<O:p
<O:p
I’ve been reading about it, but the installation procedure detailed in the download and install seems fraught with complications!
<O:p
And just which cable do I need and exactly where does it plug into on/in the monitor?
<O:p
Any advice really appreciated
<O:p
Eljay
