PM me prices, timings, fsb, voltages. Your experience with it all and I might be able to take it off your hands.

Larry, the Buffalo PC3700 is guaranteed to be BH5's which is rare and for $63 a stick of 256mb, it's a steal. They send international as well if anyone is interested. :)

    Edit// The 512mb sticks are $104

I think he's looking for 2 X 512? If not, I'd be curious to know why to sell the very good stuff you have, MT?

Oh right, this is YOUR thread, my apologies for my part in the highjacking :wave:

Uh, I may have missed it but which motherboard/chipset you are going onto also plays a critical part in the RAM recommendation. Where you headed G?

My vote's with Corsair, but I've not owned KingstonHX. I have 2X256 3500 (earlier, BH5 rev) and 2X256 3200LL TwinX, I'm really happy with all of it.

I just want to switch out to get a twin pack of something to rund dual channel.

my guess is that if you get the same stick your running now you prolly 99.9% chance could get dual channel to run fine and have 1 gig

You don't need a twin pack, per se, but a matched pair of something or other will do the trick. I bought two sticks of Crucial-Micron RAM about 6 months apart and they worked in dual channel mode... they're not quite identical even.

Thatr was my original thought when I asked if you sold yours but I am re-thinking that I would rather have 2x256 for the high fsb capability. I may even move up to 2x256 XMS3500C2.

$104 for 512MB of PC3700 that will do what timings?

mtgoat: Unless you never really push the limits of 512MB then the loss in O/C is more than made up for by the additional 512MB, with my experience. Though, let it be said that I do not game so the lower FSB might decrease the FPS, but I think the extra RAM will make up for it in that case too.

It's BH5 chips on those, and we all know what they are capable of. BH5 is used on the Level II Mushkin, Corsair 3500, Special Edition OCZ, HyperX 3500 etc. I expect at least 225-230 in dual 512 at 5,2,2,2 as i have seen most of them do that or more.

    a2jfreak,

Good to see you haven't floated away yet! I knew about the storms and flooding in your area then read your post where you said a transformer blew and I thought we might not hear from you in a while. ;)

At this point I'm taking it all in stride. If I end up with 1 GB or just have 512 I will know which way I should have gone and if I made the right choice. Then I will end up trading for the other if need be. If it didn't take them so long to reverse the charges on your card I would just run down to Fry's and grab another stick like I have and try it. That way I could try it for free and know if it is the way to go.

Good to see you're not upset too, after I turned you into a croc hunter. :)

GnomeWizardd: ah ill bench it against my other system that has the corsair in and we shall see
GnomeWizardd: both are identical systems cept one will ahve 3200 corsair and other will ahve 3500 hyperX Kingston
Thraacks: Are you going to set the memories at the same speed?
GnomeWizardd: Gonnan let them both run stock
Thraacks: Er, that's not the point I'm trying to make.
Thraacks: The Corsair 3200 can clock higher than the kingston 3500.
GnomeWizardd: wel will test that too!
    GnomeWizardd: We*
Thraacks: That's the only relevant test.
GnomeWizardd: ahh its good to have both kinds so i can run test and write somethng on the two

It's ok to run stock but I am not sure how tight you could run timings, which is a big deal even in not OC'ing.
