Asustek, both monolithic and ancient, has elected to split itself into three separate companies. The Asus division would continue the bulk of the manufacturing capacity, in addition to serving as the label for their desktop and laptop lines. Unihan Technology Corp. would head up the contract-based PC manufacturing functions, and Pegatron Technology Corp. would handle non-PC manufacturing. Asus reports that these maneuvers will make them more competitive and profitable.

    Divide and conquer
Ya, but, they are dividing themselves, not the competition. I have no idea whether this is a good move or not. Maybe they believe the different divisions need more independence in order to stay competitive.
