Site slowdowns

Short-media is barely a week old and there have been isolated times where the connection momentarily comes to a grinding halt. As with any new site that is an interconnected spiderweb of mysql databases and PHP coding there are bound to be "gremlins".

These gremlins are very illusive but we know they are there...at least one is. It, without warning, jumps up and hogs a process and beats it to death and the result is the processor jumps up from less than 1% usage to top out in less than a second.

Normally the site, main page and forums, runs at less than 1% usage even during heavy traffic times. That's thanks to Prime and -TK and their amazing connection and dedicated hardware.

But a gremlin is running around in there somewhere. We have bug spray. Be vewy vewy qwiet...we're hunting gwemlins.

Thanks for your patience. :)

Well... uhhhh... It seems that the rotator splint is misaligned and it's causing a torque strain on the recess bolts. We're trying to get some lubrication onto the motor housing mounts to reduce rotational friction. Other than that I really can't tell what's going on.

Just invest in high power flashlights and don't let the Gremlins get wet.
