I put a PNY Ge-Force Fx 5600 Ultra in my machine and much to my surprise, it was absolute crap. I felt like I was running a oced Ge-Force 2. It was so sluggish, I had to drop my resolution settings to 800X600 in UT2003. I give it -2 out of 5 stars. :shakehead

    Well I'm thinking that if you read the reviews for that card you never would have bought it.......

    tony, I hate to sound like an uncaring SOB, but...

    yeah, and? What else is new?

    If you can possibly return it, do so. The GeForce FX line is the single biggest screw-up in the history of the graphics card industry, if not the entire computer industry. They're slower than the cards they replace in most cases.

    Surprised it was crap does mean you didn'read the reviews.
    An old GF2 is faster.
    You were generous to give it 2 stars.
    FX=crap
    PNY=crap
    So add it all up=uber crap vommit.gif

    Take it back or else smackbum.gif

    Sorry if this is a little cold hearted but...

    This is why you always look at customer reviews and ask for people's opinions before you buy pretty much anything computer related.

    He said -2 stars.
    You know how it goes, he thought that he found a great deal. Cut him some slack. He'll make up for it.

    Well, keep in mind, I got it used for a very cheap $75 and it was my dad that payed for it. I was hoping for maybe a little speed increase, I mean I knew they sucked, but who would have guessed it was that bad. So, I put it in my sister's computer. Im so mean.

    Sounds like the makings of a pretty grim situation around the table at Thanksgiving dinner... :vimp:

    Tony, yeah... it's one of those live & learn things, like Prof. said.

    In future though, if you want my advice, stick to ATi cards.
    I've used both, I use nVidia stuff in most of the office machines I configure for people, but ATi's cards have always had better 2d & 3d image quality, with little performance disadvantage, if any at all.

    Ti's DO, FXs not unless you have the very latest nVidia drivers and DirectX 9.0b and a vERY fast box--UBER FAST.

    John-- who finally talked Opera into showing things right-- I like MY choices of fonts until the eyeglasses come tomorrow (I REALLY DO HOPE). But the NEC LCD172 looks good (LCD Panel, only 17" but what I could afford.)
