Question about start-up for firewall and network

When my computer loads the desktop and all the starting applications, sometimes the network gets up before the firewall program gets up. At least it appears so by looking at the task bar. The network sometimes get connected before I see the firewall program there, so I assume that this really shows the order they start in.
What I wonder is if this is any threat to the computer. I.e is there a risk that some worms, Trojans, hackers etc may make way into my computer during the short time that the network (hence the Internet connection, because it is through the network that I'm connected to the Internet) is up, but the firewall program is not?

Most random hack attempts wouldn't get a foot in the door in that timeframe. It would be rather like running at a door, hoping it will open at the split second you reach it...
