M2n32 SLI Deluxe Cooling

edited August 2007 in Hardware
I just got my new motherboard and components and got this pc fired up.

Specs ..

Asus M2n32 SLI Deluxe
Kingston KVR667D2N5/1G 1024 , x2
AMD A64 X2 4800+ (ADO48000DDBOX) with Stock Fan
Nvidia 8600 GT 512meg Video
WD Caviiar 350G sata 3g
Case Apevia X-Cruiser (apevia com/product.php?pid=168)

OS is windows 2K pro (this pc is more for poser and bryce work then gaming)

This system is running around 50c to 60c peaking at 65c just with idle desktop. ( both side panels off )

ive seen in another thread the Zalman CNPS9500 LED CPU Cooler is recomended for great cooling.

If you look at the case i have the side panel has a intake hole for the cpu fan and with the Zalman CNPS9500 LED CPU Cooler it wont mate up.

Any suggestion to get this box to run cooler?

The side intake hole is irrelevant. Having a better CPU fan will produce better cooling, regardless of what holes are cut in your case.

    Thanks for the reply.

just got my Zalman cooler and will be installing later tonight.

    Got a question though ..

do i have to use the fanmate controler ?

No, not at all. The Fanmate is merely an inline switch for selecting fan speeds. If you run the cooling fan without the switch, it merely defaults to the top fan speed.

Yep, as Leo mentioned it is not required. I find the Zalmans pretty quiet at full bore. Unless you looking for a really quiet system, it'll be fine. It shouldn't be much louder (if at all) than the stock HSF.
