Assuming the other components in the computer case were at least standard quality, I would assume a computer with that configuration would be quite a strong gamer! It will make a difference in gaming performance on what speed and quality the DRAM is, but not much of a difference. If you have the option to select a Core 2 Duo instead of Core 2 Quad, you might consider that. The CPU you are considering is very powerful for sure, but at this time, four cores are no better than two in gaming.
well I am ordering ti from dell, because sadly I can not build my own system like last time because the only local computer store closed down like last year and I do not have a credit card to pay online and my parents are un trusting people.
but I assume thier not putting in ram that is not going to work.
am i going to be getting a chunk taken out of my performance for having 667 instead of 800 though? and if so is it going to be dramatic like a 10 fps loss.
they have the option of 800, and also oc'd ram that is at 1066mhz but it adds quite a bit more to my price. I can always buy 800mhz ram later and take the 600mhz out and put the 800 in correct?

and the ram is
Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
I want to be able to run most new games on high settings at a decent framerate.
[Edit] What Ryder OCZ wrote about DDR2 800. Exactly. If it's only a little bit more, 800 over 667 is worth a slightly higher price.

667 will be just fine.
If they have the option of ordering DDR2-800, then I would get it, if they don't have a big price tag on it.
No, I can't say that you will lose 10FPS, how much, I do not know but I am over 90 percent sure it will be less than 5 FPS.
