WTB: Stock ~1800+ heatsink

edited November 2003 in Trading Post
I'm going to be getting an 1800+ CPU from NE pretty soon, but unfortunetly they don't seem to have a boxed version.

If someone has a stock (or stock-like) heatsink for an AthlonXP proc which they can send me for 5-10 bucks AFTER shipping, that'd be really helpfull.

Have you checked www.svc.com for any really good deals? You might find a better-than-stock HSF there for a similar price. (Not trying to crap your thread.)

I bought one for my celeron the other day, because anything with a 3 prong clip or a base >60x60mm won't fit on the board, period. It does decently with a 1.3GHz Celeron @ 1.5GHz (which should be ~45w) with a thermally controlled coolermaster 80mm fan (temp probe jammed into fins) and a case with very little airflow (probably ~50cfm), although it is the only really major heat producing component in the system.

It HAS been lapped, however. If you order one, lap it. The heatsink is the WORST I've EVER seen in terms of flatness (or lack thereof); the base on the thing is so far out of whack, it's incredible.

I'll be writing an article on how to lap a CPU and a heatsink, and so I've got some pix of the base on this thing; I'll attach one.

But, I think it should handle a stock 1800 just fine (it keeps my celeron @ <110*F running F@H 24/7), but it really needs to be lapped first.

--- Nevermind about the pic... my laptop is not cooperating with me right now; Win2k does not want to see my network, so I can't get the file off. I'll post the pic as soon as it decides to cooperate---

If you really want one. Paypal me $4.00 for shipping and it's yours. I would still recomend buying an aftermarket cooler. If you get a stock AMD HS I would recomend putting a better 60mm fan on it.

I've got a lapped 2500 barton sink with a delta black label on it if you're interested, be warned though, it's a loud little sucker.
