I have an intellimouse explorer on one of my PCs. When I first got it there used to be an option to assign a button to 'keystroke' The newer software I have for it doesn't have this option. Does anybody know which version of the software has this option as I need to set keystrokes for my son to play lan games with me.
Thanks.

I use IntelliPoint 4.1 and it has the ability to assign keystrokes for specific programs. PM me and we'll set up a way for me to get you a copy.

This is free software so we're not talking warez here.

Not only that, but Microsoft has it available for DOWNLOAD. Lemmee find their mouse page real quick:

    http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/default.mspx

Link on left, under resources, tell it which mouse, it will give best Intellimouse software for your specific mouse to you via HTTPable FTP. This is a PUBLIC page.

What I gave the Microsoft site was:

http://www.microsoft.com/mouse/ and it found it for me and hppped to link I gave you first. The old link WAS what I used, that is why it is crossindexed that way.

You do not need 4.1. Version 2 supported keystroke defs, so did version 1.2 and version 1.3. Version 4.1 is for VERY high density mice, even at minimum speeds the older mice will RACE (hop excessively instead of going smoothly). Look in the Bluetooth mouse driver download on the products page for the Bluetooth mice for version 4+ IF they have that subpage up yet. I guess they have not put version 4.1 up yet. Note this well, using too advanced a version, with Microsoft mice, will result in an unstable mouse no matter what accelleration you set in the accel properties General Tab of the mouse driver control dialog-- sometimes keystroke properties come up from an invocation of the Control Panel|System|Mouse|DoubleClick|Advanced Tab and sometimes they come up from a DoubleClick of the Taskbar Icon for the software, depending on mouse and Intellimouse software version.

    John.

What's a high density mouse? Why download Bluetooth drivers for a non-Bluetooth mouse?

The latest release is 5.0. Chances are that if 4.1 is no longer available, 1.x will definately not be.

    High density mice?

    Beryllium?
    Neutronium?
    Uranium?
