Ok. I'm looking for something cheap or ideally, free.

I'm starting a proof of concept project to get a radius server up and running and have it functional. It'll be running *nix and authenticating wireless sessions so it doesn't need to be much of anything.

If it matters at all I'll have it folding since it'll be sitting somewhat idle most of the time. I don't mind buying ram and hard drive for it since those aren't entirely expensive.

If you have any parts laying around that aren't being used hit me up with a pm and let's make a deal.

Where are you located? Since you will at least be paying the shipping.
I may have an old socket A system that I would part with very cheap.

Socket 478 Intel board. I think this is an early series (very early) Pentium 4, circa 2002.

What is the code from the top of the processor, or the little black tab on the side (if there is one)? The code you provided is from the motherboard, right?

Yeh, my searches show that is a motherboard.

You could always run your RADIUS server in OpenWRT on a Linux-capable commodity router (e.g. Linksys WRT54g.)

Do I have to brush the Heat transfer powder or whatever it is off the top of the processor to find the numbers?

I'm not interested in that. We just got rid of our linksys and it was a pos.

Yes. That is dried up thermal interface material (TIM). It was probably one of those TIM pads, well past its prime. There will be etchings laser/printing on the top of the CPU.
