I think I did it this time...

my computer is a huge pos and I am too lazy to fix it cause I dont do anything that demands a high end system.

Problem:
explorer crashed and it was taking forever so I just got mad and force shut down and just walked away for a little while. when I came back and booted it up the start bar dosen't appear at the bottem. I restarted multipule times making sure it wasn't just ****ty windows, it wasn't. I try to run the task manager and it says "task manager has been disabled by admin" wtf....

I boot up in safe mode and log into admin and the task bar and start menu just doesn't appear still. I CAN get the task manager up so I used run to open IE to find out what was going on. I thought if I could get task manger up in my default account and see what was going on I could fix it. I go thorugh the steps and task manager is still disabled. I run spybot, ad-aware, and AVG. Clean my computer as much as I could but to no avail I am still start menu and task manager-less

I guess what I am asking is do I have to do a full install or is there a way I can savage this? Thanks :D

edit: this is my only computer and I don't currently have a copy of windows, thats why I posted it in urgent

This sounds like a virus. I'm sending you and your computer over to the Virus and Spyware Removal sub-forum. Hope it all works out for you. I'd help, but I'm not the expert in the area you need.

    Hi LilbRo,

    Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
    • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Save the log to a convenient location as you'll need to post it soon.
    • Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
    • Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
