My computer driver are really F'd up.

edited November 2007 in Spyware & Virus Removal
Allright i think i jacked up my computer drive. One day i used this random registry cleaner on my computer because it was slow. I think after that
All my dam drives say "access is denied" Even my CD-ROm and DVD drives
say "access is denied" The only drive i can get to is C:\ which is where i keep my program files and stuff. All my usb ports won't even let me get in , its the same thing. Also, i cant put squat into my Ipod too, it appears in My computer but says access is denied. What should i do, reset my Cd rom and USB ports? If i should how do i do it?

It probably contained a virus, as you may have figured so somebody who knows a bunch about viruses on here can probably help you, which I don't sry.

next time use a registry cleaner like CCleaner, it works really good and doesn't contain viruses.
If it were me Id probably just reinstall my computer, but I hope someone on here can find you a better solution.

Yup, the slowdown and eventual denial of access is a virus or some other malware. I'm moving your thread to the Spyware and Virus sub-forum.

Oh, in the future, watch out for those registry "cleaners." Some of them are way too aggressive. Some of them are just flat out inaccurate. But let's get the infection taken care of and then we can talk about registry cleaning.

yes i think so because when i used this other program to sweep for viruses it said i had 1, but when i pressed delete virus option it told me to buy it and i thought that was just BS so i deleted the program.

    Hi Green Special!

I'd need to see a HijackThis log please...

    Download HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
    • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Save the log to a convenient location as you'll need to post it soon.
    • Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
    • Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Answer: because we only have so many Spyware volunteers, but half the world has infected computers because they ignorantly refuse to run adequate security, assuming that the bad stuff will get the next guy and not them! (nothing personal to anyone here - it used to be my attitude as well. We all lose our ignorance at one time or another.)
