Is it okay to modify a case fan casing?

i'm going to be swapping out my case fans for high flow versions
but i do have a problem with the side fan
i have the tuniq tower setup and it is somewhat hard to close the sidepanel do to the fans casing touching the tuniq
the panel closes but warps an imperceptable amount
i was thinking of just shaving off a few millimeters of plastic from the fan casing and as far as i can tell it should be okay but i thought i'd get a second opinion.

As long as the fan blades don't hit anything, I say MOD IT!!!

    Oh and PICS!!

Should be ok as Zuntar mentioned. A few millimeters should be totally fine.

    PICS! :D

As long as you don't touch the fan blades, do that and they'll never spin properly again.

Ahhh, that brought tears to my eyes. A kindred spirit!

    hacksaws
    jigsaws
    metal files
    drill motors and bits
    sand paper

These are all my case modding friends!

Like the others stated, it'll be fine as long as you don't hit the blades while modding and so long as the fan and housing clear everything after the mod..........;)
