Asus A8n CPU?
Hi all,
I have an Asus A8N SLI Premium motherboard. It is socket 939. I'm sure I read somewhere it could take a dual core CPU (AM2?) but I can't see confirmation in the manual anywhere. I mean, I'm REALLY sure I read it somewhere. Could anybody tell me the best option for a CPU upgrade for this Mobo?
Thanks guys.

Some of these say AM2 and X2 so I don't know if they'll do me.
939 is dead you and me are in the same boat for upgrades. (Really wants a quad core and will have to migrate to intel).
edit: Looks like newegg saves the day they still have some 939 dual cores. A good one too I remember when this chip was over $400.
After a quick search of the site... Microdirect does not show any 939 X2's.
X2 is not specific to AM2 or 939.... they call Dual Core AM2 socket and 939 socket X2's, so searching for X2 doesn't narrow it down to 939. I just searched by 939 and none of those listed are X2

Overclockers lists a 3800+: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=6&subid=567
Amazon.co.uk lists a couple through Bizrate: http://www.bizrate.co.uk/cpus_computerprocessorupgrades/products__keyword--amd+939+x2.html
You want a 3800+, 4200+, 4400+, 4600+, 4800+ (beware, most of those have AM2 counterparts) X2 or any of the Opterons - 165,170,175,180,185 that you can find.
If you can't find one over there that suits your needs... PM me and we can get something arranged from over here
Might have to do that . I keep searching but there only seems to be 2/2.2GHz available. How much better would a 2.2GHz X2 cpu be over my current one? I'd like to at least go faster.
Most of the 2.0 units will easily run 2.5 - 2.6 with little to no voltage increase anyway.
