    Yes, it would appear your enclosure needs replacing.

    I changed the case out and everything works fine... whats the cause of case going bad?

    Five years ago, there weren't many external enclosure/drive kits as compared today. Now, everyone's in on the act to grab the consumer dollar. The market is so crowded that many of the manufacturers without a well known name (no-names) think that their only distinguishing characteristic to catch the consumer's is cheapness. If it's dirt cheap, there's a reason quite often. It's the same principle that brought us Emachines.
