///TAKEN///FREE Socket 775 Motherboard and Intel D930 CPU**

What:
1. Asus P5WD2, Socket 775, compatible with all Intel Socket T (LGA 775) processors up to, but not including Core 2
2. Intel D930, dual core, Socket 775, 3.0GHz, easily overclocks to 4.0GHz with a well ventilated case and very good heatsink; you also get a perfectly working OEM Intel heatsink (nice sinks if you don't overclock)
What's the catch:
The provisions are that if you can get one or both of these components running, you pay me what you think is reasonable. If neither are operational, you toss them out (put them on your wall, fashion jewelry out of them, or make them icons for a new religion you start!). Or, if they are running and you decide you don't want them, you ship them back to me or you resell them, splitting the proceeds with me.
Weird? Yeah, it is. The situation is that I've already spent hours troubleshooting these parts and did not come to a solution. Probably the only test I've conducted is putting the CPU in another computer to see if it's viable. Background on this was a sale I made on Craigslist. The buyer, unfortunately, did not have the hardware skills he thought he did. He let me take his computer build with these components to troubleshoot when he could not get it running. I immediately spotted several build errors, which leads me to believe he killed the motherboard and/or the CPU. Here's a thread on the troubleshooting steps I took.
Qualifications to receive this barebones:
You must be active at Icrontic
You must have a 'history' here, or at least a very healthy Heatware history
You must be fairly proficient with computer hardware
You must be someone I deem trustworthy
You will need DDR2 667 or 800 DRAM
BTW, that motherboard/CPU combo overclocked will produce about 1200 points per day on Folding@Home WinSMP. I've got two other systems running on that basic setup right now.
But if I get these components working and offer Leo what I think it's worth, and he doesn't like my offer...
I'm a reasonable person! I've got a great Heatware history for a reason.
Have I confused you? I really mean what I offer here. I've got a lot of things going on right now and don't want to take any more time troubleshooting this hardware. This is a risk-free offer to you if you want to tinker and test!

///This kit is now taken///
Seriously, I hope he can get it running. The D9XX series CPUs run hot, but overclocked, which they do very, very nicely, they are very capable and fast CPUs.
I've more or less decided I'm not selling any more CPUs or motherboards on Craigslist other than on an 'as is' basis. The Craigslist buyers, at least in my locale, are just not very technically proficient. I am convinced the buyer damaged either the motherboard, the CPU, or both. This board and CPU were working perfectly when I disassembled the machine for parts sale.
Here's the troubleshooting thread I started after I took the motherboard and CPU back from the Craigslist buyer.
