registry clean-up?

edited December 2007 in Science & Tech
Hello - can anyone recommend a free registry cleaner for a windows XP PC? One that can be used periodically to remove outdated/invalid entries that seem to crop up, and to help keep my system running (reasonably) well? Thanks.

If you have cCleaner installed it has an 'issues' section that will clean some registry problems. I do not know of any free ones that I would trust myself. Although one of the other fine ladies and/or gents here may have some suggestions.

Yes, I do have a suggestion. Try RegScrubXP. It's very easy to use and itemizes all entries to be cleaned, leaving the user the option of keeping items he may be unsure about. I don't recall ever keeping anything that it identified as suitable for removal. I also don't recall ever having any problems after using RegScrubXP. I've used it on over 10 different computers, each with different software loads.

    Yes, it's also free.

Advanced Windows Care V2 Personal has been really good with me. I have not faced system instabilty or other issues since I have been using it. It comes from iobit, its free for personal use. I have been using it for many months now, it works.

I use Amust Registry Cleaner and it seems to do a pretty good job.
