Hello, Umm for a while a commonly known aplication called aim 6 hasnt been working on my computer but recently some one i need to contact is online. And its vital that i speak with them, I tried to disable script blocking and disabled instant messaging under my "On-Access Protection Control" For my Avast anti virus V4.7 professional edition. i also have tea timer.exe running and when its running and i start aim it denies access to a registry add. I think its the key that makes it run on system startup. So i ended the proccess and re started aim. It didnt help, I also used port forwarding on port 433 to my computer i thought that my router "Wrt54g linksys" had something to do with it. but sadly that sitll didnt help.

Oh, yeah what i mean by not working is that. I can run the program its just that when i try to IM the person i cant see any of the text nothing pops up but i hear the noise. I can see every one online and everything i even tried uninstalling and reinstalling. But no matter what when i IM anyone nothing ever pops up.

While I cannot recommend a solution to your problem, I can recommend alternative software that supports the AIM client.

    Pidgin
    Trillian
    Meebo.com

If you have G-mail, they even support AIM in the google talk portion of your inbox.

You could try another program like Trillian or TerraIM.

*ah, NiGHTS beat me to it.

Do those programs work on a windows based os (Windows Xp sp2 - i think its that service pack). And does it have all the same features? Such as voice chat, File transfer???

Adware is spyware. A single virus scanner can't solve your issue. Do you want a quick solution, or a solution that will actually work?

    The HijackThis log is clean.

Check in Add/Remove programs for askPBar or AskBar and uninstall it. It is nothing malicious anyway.
