edited December 2007 in Hardware
just set up new comp but once i turn the power on, it starts up for like 2 seconds and then stops, turns back on but stays on, but nothing happening on screen and no beeps at POST. Anyone got any ideas what this could be?

I have a Abit IP-35E(socket 775) pci - express DDr2 motherboard

Corsair 520W PSU

Intel core 2 quad pro q6600

I've tried the PSU in my old computer and it runs fine any ideas?

    rapc,

Do you have 1 or 2 sticks of ram installed?

Clear the CMOS, place 1 stick in the slot closest to the CPU and power up. If that fails, try the other stick.

Does 1 make it work and one not?

The double booting does not prevent the computer from starting - it's merely a double boot before the computer advances into Windows after POST. It's also fixed with a BIOS update. It's an annoyance but has no operational consequences whatsoever. (fixed in BIOS revision 11) But anyway, that's not the problem Trickster's describing.

    1. reset the CMOS jumper
    2. reseat the video card
    3. try the RAM test described by RyderOCZ
    4. try known good RAM (DDR2 667 or 800) from another computer
