Laptop Meltdown! Tray hijacker + ie popups, attempted malicious installs :(. Help!
Hi guys!
I'm not sure exactly when my laptop became infected with this particular malicious program (not sure what it actually is...). Since it got itself on it has been v. noticeable however, with a tray hijacker giving me false spyware alerts and inviting me to download 'anti-virus' programs. I get near constant I.E. popups for various 'anti-virus/spyware' programs too. Not as often I get attempted downloads via mozilla, with the usual right hand bottom corner save file box...however this is started by a sudden 'untitled' tab appearing in the browser. Identified a file for concern in the system32 directory, wowlze.dll, which I can't delete. Appeared the same day as the problems. Got a few dodgy processes running in the background of the re-starting kind also. Generally shafted and beginning to consider a full reformat and Ubuntu install

I've run Ad-aware, Spybot, AVG Plus, and ran a BFU script to remove the tray jacker (unsuccessfully
). I run Zonealarm, Spybot SD, Mcafee virus-scan as protection. Use Firefox/Mozilla. Win Xp etc.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe.
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.
Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
