Anti-Keylogger programs?

edited January 2008 in Science & Tech
Hello. I am a new user here at Icrontic, and joined because of the seemingly endless wealth of knowledge. I have a question about anti-keylogger programs. I am absolutely terrified of keyloggers. I have Norton Anti Virus (Considering replacing with Webroot AntiVirus) and Webroot Spy Sweeper both installed on my computer, but I would feel much better if I had a dedicated anti-keylogger program. What do you recommend? Also, is Norton a good AntiVirus program? Does anyone know if the Webroot AV is better?

I found this...(also has free version)

AVG (Grisoft) has a pretty good rootkit revealer.

And I have had a good experience using Webroot Spy Sweeper; it will catch most nasties.

Let me be somewhat blunt about this:

As a home user, you have virtually nothing to be afraid of about keyloggers. You're a very tiny fish in a very large pond when it comes to people who would employ one. Use AVG and Spysweeper, and you have nothing to worry about. Drop Norton like a bad habit.

Anti-Keylogger (www.anti-keyloggers.com) has already been mentioned here. I use this program for already about a year and haven't experienced any problems with it yet. It is probably the best anti-keylogger program available on the market today.

As for SpySweeper. I have also tried this software. It is really nice but .. not for keyloggers . It fights signature-based spyware and keyloggers today become more and more sophisticated that's why it's better to have heuristic program (like Anti-Keylogger) and not signature-based.

This is true. Your best defense as a home user is simply that no one cares about taking over 1 computer at a time. It's just not worth anyone's time who knows how.

Unless there is reason to be paranoid....:hair:

    - do your family members have a reason to monitor your computer activity?

No, no, no - it was a generic statement - not directed at Cataclysm. :D
