HELP!!! Got some kind of Evil Stuff around 3:00 Can't access Task Manager. It turned off Security Center and I can't look at Firewall settings. I used search box and deleted anything created today. Alot of junk labeled .ga5me or .gamme or .g2ame weird extentions. A couple of weird exes too. I emptied the recycle bin to make sure it was really gone. But I still have a little stop sign with a x in it in the tray. Is it real or part of the spyware?

I'm down loading Malitious program remover from Microsoft but this thing is eating bandwidth it will take 2 hrs @ 56k current speed 243 bps.

How do I regain access to my Task Manager?

XP SP2 56K Dell Dimension XPS R400 PII 400 320MB RAM

How do I regain access to my Task Manager?
You follow the steps that one of our volunteer spyware removal experts (darn, they are good!) will specify. After said removal, you will install effective protective software. :)

I have moved your thread the Spyware and Virus Removal forum.

We have many, many users with infected computers seeking help here and only so many volunteers. Someone will help you, but the response may not be right away.

I think Iv'e disabled it a bit by quarintining som exe's and some sys files.

    Here's a list :
    xpupdate.exe
    kernelwind32.exe
    newmaxxsv234.exe
    vedxg4am1et2.exe
    vedxga1me4t1.exe
    mrofinu27.exe
    kernelw.sys

and I suspect these but can't move or change because they are in use...
    runtime.exe
    shift.shift.exe
    an excel doc called svcp.csv
    and lich.dat

Should I get that Spyware Pro from the google ads? Is it REALLY free?

Well, I used MS malicious file remover and it got rid of SOME of it but it was still giving me trouble. SO... since I had spyware AND since my system was still FAT32, I reformatted the drive and reinstalled XP.

So pls move this thread to resolved.
