formatted dell. Cant get internet!

edited January 2008 in Hardware
Hi, I just reformatted a dell dimension 8110, mobo E051, service tag GZ2QX91, and I got everything to work EXCEPT the internet. I got the drivers from dell's site, http://support.euro.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=GZ2QX91&SystemID=DIM_CEL_1100&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
and i still cannot get on. It has a linksys wireless cared, WMP54Gv2, which i also downloaded drivers for, but will not work. It detects my wireless internet and also says that it has excellent signal strength. I also have Intel's chipset identification utility and it fails to detect any chipset. Dont I have intel chips?

ahhh, I need this PC

BTW, to the administrators, I am aznherb36, i changed my email and now I dont have access to posting new threads or going into my private msg's. This happpened to all the forums I changed my email address on. Could you fix this? Thanks

In Network Connections\Wireless Network Connections right click and select "View Available Wireless Networks." Does your home network/workgroup show? If it does, you merely need click the "Connect" button and enter the password to enter. The password is whatever you used when you set up your router.

well I took out the wireless card now and am trying wired. I still cannot connect. But I see that I am on the shared network, I can access my other PC's stuff.

This might not work , but depending on your type of connection, especially if it is cable; you may want to turn of your router and modem for 30 seconds (with your computers online and attached) then restart your router and modem. This has worked for me before when I have had problems with the internet connection on a fresh install. This advice might be useful for my router and modem only though; I originally received this advice from tech support through my ISP and it has worked ever since when doing a fresh install or introducing a new computer to the network.

    ....also this download may help
