    Biostar is passable.

Shuttle (except their SFF systems) should be avoided at all costs.

    Notes:
    1. My first configuration was exactly $399.99... but I forgot the heatsink and case fan. :banghead:

    2. The ASRock board comes with a modem, so you shouldn't need any PCI cards at all (the modem is an AMR device)

    3. ASRock is ASUS's "budget" divison.

hey, looks nice geeky1...thanx for the imput..i like that u put in 512mb ram and 80g HD...nice

i dont need any case fans, i got plenty of them lying around..and i do have a spare AX-7 in the closet i could use so the heatsink could be left out.

what are your guys opinion of the KM400? is it pretty much the KT400 chipset just microATX with video right?
  • Geeky1Geeky1 University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA, USA)
    edited December 2003
Basically, yeah... KT400+video; all the boards I've seen with it are mATX, but there isn't any reason that the chipset couldn't be put on an ATX board...

If you take out the heatsink and case fan, you should be able to replace the duron with a 1.6, which is what I had before. I think that's all I changed, and if so, the resulting price, after shipping, will be $399.99
