Possible Virus

When starting my computer this morning it started a check disk process and I noticed that it started to delete files. I immediately turned off the computer and tried to restart in safe mode. This did not work, I then used another option to restart (I forget what it was) windows then repaired the deleted files and started. I have done all scans possible and nothing was detected.
I want to make sure that this possible virus is still not on my computer, can someone help.

    Welcome to Icrontic coryis007,

Not seeing anything of infection here. Of course if your drive has experienced some problems or changes scandisk will run, and if it locates corrupted sectors or file system errors will make corrections to that. What files did you see it taking action on your felt indicated it was actually doing a harmful task? Post back on that, and let's take a different look here as well.

Go Here and download Silent Runners to your desktop. Run it, and post back here the log it creates. If your protective software queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious. It will create a file named Startup Programs, and will notify when the scan is complete. Copy the log from the Startup Programs file back here. Here are guidelines for using Silent Runners if needed.

    Hi Thomas,
Thank you for having a look at this for me. I don't remember what files it was taking action on, it happened so fast and I got scared and killed the power, however I do remember it stating the "volume is dirty". The reason I thought it was harmful was because it was stating it was deleting files, when I saw the word "delete" that is what set me off.
As requested her is the log from silent runner.

Nothing really amiss in that view. If you recently had a "hard" shutdown, where programs weren't given a chance to save data correctly, or a similar error, this could lead to some file system corruption (dirty) and lead to the system starting chkdsk on reboot. And corrupted files would be deleted then very likely, but nothing you could or would use anyway. Better you go ahead and do a chkdsk to clean things up.

Since the info is here, you do have Logitech's Desktop Messenger there. This uses "Backweb" technology, where Logitech monitors areas of activity on your system and sends reports on that back to Logitech's servers (likely scheduled, or each time you make a new net connection). Logitech does this in order to, as they put it, "improve our after-sales customer experience". Many feel their after-sales experience is doing just fine without being monitored or sharing net connections with Logitech, and opt to uninstall that Logitech Desktop Messenger through Add/Remove Programs (but only the Desktop Messenger, not other Logitech items showing there).

You can also go to Control Panel - Scheduled Tasks, and delete these now orphaned tasks that will show there:

    Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC Nag
    Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC

Then go to Start - Run, and type the following (Enter after):

    chkdsk /r

It will likely find volumes in use and ask if you want it to run on reboot - select Y for yes, then reboot. This will go ahead and do that chkdsk and get things cleaned up there.

    Hi Thomas,
Thank you for all your help. I did everything you suggested below. This time it stated that the volume was clean.
Again thank you for your help.
