when i open Outlook it gives me the the following error message:

“The Add-in “Symantec AntiVirus: (C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\vpmsece3.dll) cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook. Please contact the Add-in manufacture for an update. If no update is availablem please uninstall the Add-in.”

I have deleted the “extend.dat” file but it still gives me this error. Can someone please tell me how to fix this problem.
Thank you,

uninstall symantec entirely. Deleting extend.dat will just break part of it and not fix your problem. You have to uninstall the software and reinstall it. Alternatively instead of using symantec try AVG Free from grisoft. It's the anti-virus software I've been using for years now and setup on any computer I do work on and it's so far never caused any headache. Oh plus it's free so that's a huge plus.

Wow, I could have written that myself. Dump Norton/Symantec and install AVG for anti-virus. If you've got other Symantec stuff running, let us know. We can direct to freeware products that are just as good or better and that don't hog computer resources.
