NEED HELP Installing SNMP on XP PRO

I'm trying to install SNMP on Windows XP PRO but it won't let me. It always says it can't find a different file. I put the XP disc in but didn't work. I copied the i386 folder over and tried that, no luck. I tried another xp pro disc, no luck.

Does something else have to be installed first? Am I missing something? It worked first time on our XP Home SP1 computer. However, my XP PRO SP2 wont.

For reference, I am going to add/remove programs and clicking windows components. I then go to Management and Monitoring Tools which has SNMP and WMI something listed. I need to install this for a lab but it wont work. Any suggestions?

Have you tried the installation in Safe Mode? (not Safe Mode with Networking)

Not yet. I will do that tomorrow after my download finally completes. I've read about other people trying this and saying DCOM service I think was not running, but I checked that. I just installed .net framework 1.1 and haven't restarted so maybe that will affect it, since some people said different things about .net

So I found out I can't install any windows components. It wont find the files on disc or on hard drive i386 folder. Any suggestions?
