Wireless Card outtage

edited March 2008 in Science & Tech
Hey guys,

I have an Intel(R) Pro Wireless 3945 ABG card. It has always works fine during normal operations, surfing the internet etc...

But lately after leaving the computer on all night and all day while I'm at work the next day, when I try to open my browser it tells me page not found, the WI-FI light on my computer is off, the status on the lower right of the screen no longer shows green for the card, the network connection shows no connection, and when I try to enable the card nothing happens. The only way I can get it to work again is to shut down the computer completely. Then everything works fine. This never happened before, but now it's becoming a frequent thing.

Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Thanks in advance

For lack of a better explanation, wireless hardware and especially the supporting drivers can simply be flaky. Can you just right click on the wireless icon in the task tray and select "repair?"

I'd suggest just re-installing the drivers. Little things tend to happen causing this. My card did the same thing. All I had to do was re-install it, and everything was back to normal.

-Go into the device manager(windows im assuming), find where it is, and uninstall it.
-Restart, and then install this software below.

Here is a link for the drivers. Not sure what OS you're using but all you have to do is select it here.

Someone may have a much easier fix(even though this will only take a few mins), but this is the only thing I can think of.

Thanks Leonardo and tmh88, I will give these ideas a shot and see what happens. Everyone on this site is always so helpful.

    Thanks again!
